Ghost.exe create vmdk can't run in VMplayer

Hi all,

I use ghost to clone a *.vmdk file.
Then create a new VM and locate disk to the *.vmdk file,

but it show error when power on.

"Virtual device 'ide1:0' will start disconnected."

Did anyone have same problem?

Welcome to the Community,

please provide some more details about how exactly you do this, e.g. what is meant by "... and locate disk to the *.vmdk file"?

Are you trying to restore a Ghost image from within the new virtual machine?

Any reason why you do not simply copy the .vmdk file(s) instead of using Ghost?

Please attach the new VM's configuration (.vmx) file as well as its latest vmware.log file to a reply post.

Thanks André for reply me,

I think I should explain more detail for the case.

I use "ghost" and exported  a vmdk file from a PC.

After that I create a new VM

and add a hard disk in "Virtual Machine Settings".

The disk file choose the vmdk file that exported by "ghost" (Like below pic)

At last, the VM can not boot the disk.

Is it the VM did not support ghost's vmdk file or I miss some config?

Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure whether the vmdk file (created by Ghost) is compatible.

Please attach the VM's latest vmware.log file to a reply post. Maybe it contains helpful information.
