hello Community ,
kindly need your kind support as i have a question about bridging
if i configure the vxlan on its default setting (vlan 0) and want to make a bridge between physical web server and TWO virtual web servers ( the two virtual servers on same logical switch and on different esxi hosts )
is it possible to make a bridge between physical and virtual on this setup OR i should change vlan 0 to any other vlan ?
Thanks,
shamy
Regardless of which VLAN you bridge to, all physical hosts in that VLAN will have L2 connectivity with all VMs in the VXLAN that you're bridging to regardless of what host(s) they're on. There's a good write up on page 46 of the VMware® NSX for vSphere Network Virtualization Design Guide ver 3.0 that describes how it works.
Make sure the physical web server is not on VLAN 0
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2 Documentation Center - Add a Distributed Logical Router
"Logical router interfaces and bridging interfaces cannot be connected to a dvPortgroup with the VLAN ID set to 0."
