Hi Community
I am preparing for VCP-DCV (2V0-621), I have checked the path for the exam. And found it comes after VCA-DCV ( 1V0-621)
But when checked the VCP-DCV, I found that vsphere 6 certification is prerequisite for this exam. Now I am confused that which exam is real prerequisite for VCP-DCV
vSphere 6 exam or VCA-DCV ?? Please clarify
Regards
Nitin
If you are new to this certification, see the requirements in Path 1 of VCP6-DCV Certification
VCA-DCV is a different certification.

VMware certifications in each of the 4 solution tracks build in terms of difficulty through VCA > VCP > VCAP > VCIX > VCDX
You do need the VCP to be able to get VCAP, and so on as you go up the stack - but there's no relationship at the bottom end between VCA and VCP - you don't need to be a VCA before going for VCP.
To get the VCP6-DCV as your first certification, you need to meet 3 requirements:
- Attend authorised training
- Pass the vSphere Foundations exam (2V0-620)
- Pass the VCP6-DCV exam (2V0-621)
Thanks a lot !!
Hi
I have a question about an sequence.
For VCP6-DCV I must take three steps
1) Attend authorized training
2) Pass the vSphere Foundations exam (2V0-620)
3) Pass the VCP6-DCV exam (2V0-621)
According to the rules of budget, I'll go on a course in the autumn.
I have enough experience and skills, so I sure I can take the tests without a course.
Can I take the tests, and then attend authorized training?
I want to use this path:
2) Pass the vSphere Foundations exam (2V0-620)
3) Pass the VCP6-DCV exam (2V0-621)
1) Attend authorized training
Is it possible?
BR, Medet.
Yes - you get the certification once you've met all 3 requirements - the order you meet them is up to you.
Be careful in your preparations - I have known experienced people thinking too much about what happens in the real-world, or assuming that they know a topic well enough when the exam might ask something that they haven't considered or ever had to do.
Focus your exam preparations on the published objectives.
Hi, scott28tt
yes, you right.
Scott, if someone can pass both exams, what is the reason for requiring a course as well?
My personal view:
Even if folks have brain dumped the exams, at least they've actually got some level of knowledge and skill. It's always been VMware policy to have a course requirement, and it would be unfair to existing VCPs if that requirement was dropped.
