VIO - Failed to Deploy Openstack

Hi there,

I've been trying to deploy VMware Integrated Openstack 3.0 for days now and get stuck at one very weird error.

Failed to create OpenStack deployment. Not enough shared storage space for [VIO-ControlPlane-0]. At least 120GB storage is required to place all the nodes. Do you want to save your deployment?

I don't understand why I kept getting this error.

I'm running 1 physical ESXi host which acts as management host (under Cluster 1 - Management). Due to hardware limitation, I'm running a second vESXi nested inside Cluster 1, under vCluster1 and has ample Datastore on both Cluster and Hosts.

There is

Can anyone help me with this issue?

I bumped all the storage up to pass the 120GB point already (nova datastore, glance datastore, management-server vmdk, openstack-template vmdk)

I don't know what else to check.

NOTE:

There is nothing strange in the host setup such as vFlash. no vFRC are assigned for any of the vmdk involved in VIO.

I've included some screenshot for reference. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi,

do you have ha enabled (even in manual mode) on the management cluster.

also can you post the oms.log

connect to oms in ssh as viouser

sudo -i to become root

and look at /var/log/oms/oms.log.

regards

stephane

Hi

Hmm this is where it becomes quite confusing when not running dedicated Compute and Management clusters. I have a dev setup at home so I may clone your setup and see what the issue is. If I can work it out ill post a resolution.

Good Luck.

Hi there.

i have same Problem with VMware Integrated Openstack 3.0 too ...

I have 3 Hosts in my management Cluster For Compute with this details :

(VMware ESXi, 6.0.0 , HP ProLiant BL460c Gen9 , Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2670 v3 @ 2.30GHz)

(VMware ESXi, 6.0.0 , HP ProLiant DL380 G7 , Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5640 @ 2.67GHz)

(VMware ESXi, 6.0.0 , HP ProLiant DL360 G7 , Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5620 @ 2.40GHz)

And 2 Hosts in my Nova Cluster with this details :

(VMware ESXi, 5.5.0 , HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 , Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v3 @ 2.60GHz)

(VMware ESXi, 5.5.0 , HP ProLiant BL460c Gen9 , Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2670 v3 @ 2.30GHz)

I already Install Vcenter Server 6.5 Appliance on another server and deploy Integrated Openstack 3.0 on that ...

on Clusters i enable HA and DRS and Host monitoring and all configurations necessary for clusters ...

on each cluster i have 1 storage for data store Cluster for images ...

but i steel see this error ....

am i need a SAN Storage For compact Mode ?

and in HA mode with same configuration i have this error :

Failed to create OpenStack deployment. A minimum of 3 connected ESXi hosts with at least 8 logical processors per host and writable data stores are required for the deployment, but only found 2 hosts in VCenter Server cluster Cluster ...

in this mode i have 3 host on management cluster but I do not know why i see this Error .... I'm confused !!!

I attach Final Configuration images ....

Tanks

If someone is still there looking for a solution to this problem,

Kindly check the datastores on all the hosts in your management and compute cluster. Make sure the datastore you have selected for your nova cluster and for glance are present on all the hosts of the cluster.
