Horrible Lag

Ok so this version of Fusion 8.5.3 has horrible mouse lag after using it for a while ( by horrible I mean between 2-30 seconds or more behind my movement). I have tried always optimize for gaming....never optimize....more cores....less cores....more memory...less memory......3d optimize on....3d optimize off and it doesn't go away. After a while I can move the mouse and it takes a while for the cursor to catch up with what I did. It makes it unusable....I have shutdown and restarted the VM and it seems like the only thing that helps is to completely restated my Mac... I am getting so tired of getting a working version of Fusion and then loosing it when its updated....then working ...then broke....this is getting ridiculous. I only use one program which is Autocad. Thats it nothing else. Well and file explorer sometimes.

I am running an iMac 27" with 24 gigs of ram with Sierra 10.12.2 and windows 10 with all the updates.

Help! Please

Help? I can't work like this. I thought maybe it was the version of Autocad but I downgraded and it still does the same thing. It seems like a memory leak related to the user input. Once its starts happening it just gets worse and closing the VM does not make it go away.

Does anyone at VMware even look at these community messages? I have to say this will probably be my last time I purchase Fusion. I just don't think its a high priority at VMware... I hope I am wrong.

Most of us here are just users just like you!  VMware employees do visit the forums when they have time, but it is not an official support channel.  So, if no other users either have encountered an issue you are seeing (or happen to be spending their time in other "Real Life" activities), or can't determine exactly what you are experiencing, then you won't get responses.

Hi,

While I read your initial post, you seem to have taken the most common troubleshooting steps already by yourself. So on that part I was not sure what to add.

Besides telling us what you had already done there is not a lot of detailed info and we might just end up suggesting what you already tried.

Without support bundle it is not easy to tell us what is wrong, it is not such a common issue that we can guess the reasons for your VM misbehaving.

I'm not even sure I understand the issue. Is it just the mouse lagging or is the entire host slow?

You say that closing the VM doesn't even make the issue go away, so even with VMware Fusion shut down it still happens? That is very strange.

In case you are not aware, to get official support please go to: Fusion Support and open a ticket at File a Support Request

Couple of questions:

- DId you try manually reinstalling the tools?

- Did you verify that the virtual hardware was updated?

- Is this an original VM install or a converted Physical machine?  if the latter, try doing the former.

How do I do that again? I have done it before but forget how to do it.

Mouse lag in Autocad. If I minimize Autocad I am in Unity so no lag there and if I open File Explorer there is no lag there either. Seems to mainly b in Autocad.

What I mean is once it starts even if I close and reopen the VM the problem still exists. Dont know if there is something that VM uses that doesn't completely close?

Hi,

Sorry for the delays, had other things on my mind as VMware forums for a bit, so wasn't able to follow up as I tend to do.

The support bundle can be requested from the help menu, option "Collect Support Information".
