ESX host doesn't see attached array anymore.

We had a very small test environment that contained one host running 4.1 attached to a SAN array using a SCSI card.  Everything was working correctly but we want to try and update the ESX host.  We tried to upgrade the host but ESX server kept hanging when attached to the SCSI.  We then determined that this version of ESX did not support the array we were using so we are now trying to go back to ESX 4.1 which was working before.

We have reinstalled the software and we can connect to the host using vsphere client but when we attach the SAN it doesn't see it, the scan takes a while and then eventually times out.

It does complain about storage drivers and the reboot hangs if we try to reboot the esx with SAN attached.  Any idea if we need to install any drivers?  This was working before so we thought going back to 4.1 would work.

If you're using iSCSI I'd be willing to bet that your iSCSI IQN's have changed. Did you have ACL's on your LUNs using the IQN's of your old adapters?

I would also review the access logs from your SAN array.
