Error when add CLI user priviledge NSX 6.2.4

Hi All,

As per subject, i have tried to create user CLI :

nsxmgr(config)# user abcd password plaintext 12345

But when i tried to add priviledge to this user, there is an error :

nsxmgr(config)# user abcd privilege web-interface

ERROR: cloud not add privilege

Anyone know why?

Are you logged in to the cli as admin? not administrator@vsphere.local?

Only admin has the rest-api privilege to start with, so I presume it's the only user that can delegate it.

Otherwise your syntax is perfect as per page 30 of the CLI guide.

Raise a support case I reckon.  Please let us know if you resolve it as it's an interesting one.

I am logged as admin/default. Can't open the case since this is trial version 😄 I am sure several VMware NSBU folks are in this forum, hopefully they can help to raise the issue to their internal team.

This is a known bug which can be fixed easily by GSS.

As for when this occurs, it will not occur on a freshly installed NSX Manager, but if you've upgraded your NSX Manager previously, you will hit this issue when trying to add the web-interface privilege to a local cli user.

This has already been raised as a bug and will be fixed in a future release.

Can you share how to fix this issue? My NSX is trial version, of course i can't open the case to GSS 🙂

The fix involves gaining engineering access of the NSX Manager, hence the mention of GSS.

If you cannot deploy a new NSX Manager to work around the issue, inbox me and we can see if I can help you out over a webex session.
