VMware ESXi6 Purple screen(PSOD)

psod.png

While managing the service, PSOD has occured.

There is no repetition or periodic failure, and the processes before the failure or recently proceeded do not have unusual operation.

After the failure, I rebooted the server by turning the switch off, and it has proceeded successfully.

But I am searching for the reason why the PSOD has occurred.

What is the reason of this phenomenon?

The system information is like this.

- Server Vender/Model: Dell PE R730

- Storage Vender/Model: IBM V7000 IBM Storwize V7000 Gen2 version 7.4.0.7 (build 103.24.1511050000)

- ESXi Ver./Build: ESXi,6/-/-/.3620759

- VirtualCenter Ver./Build: vCenter Appliance 6.0.0.20000

While the PSOD could occur for many reasons (Software and Hardware) there is no single way of troubleshooting it.

Below is the article that describes the PF exception 14 that has occurred in your case.

VMware ESXi host fails with a purple diagnostic screen: PF Exception 14 in world (2071752) | VMware ...

See if you can obtain the logs and examine them.

Hi Amor123,

May I ask if you upgrade or update any Firmware or add another component to your server?
