SRM - preserving IP address when failing over VM

Hello

I have a query in relation to the SRM failover. We have an appliance which has the IP address of the VM hard coded, This appliance exist in both Site A (10.3.20.0/24) and Site B (10.2.20.0/24),

If the VM was to failover from Site A to Site B using SRM, is it possible to preserve the IP address so that the appliance can continue to work.

All our sites are part of a Managed WAN, and the SRM will be happening over the Managed WAN as well.

please let me know if you need any more information.

many thanks

Hello,

you have two options depends on your requirements and SRM version. First one is IP Subnet level IP customization which is implemented in SRM 5.8. You can find more information at: VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.8 Documentation Center. The second one is manually customize IP properties for a VM - here is link with details: Site Recovery Manager 6.1 Documentation Center

Hope that this helps,

Daniel G.

By default the IP address (and all other characteristics of the VM: mac addr, name, etc) will be preserved. If you want the IP to be changed, as mentioned previously, SRM can do that for you.
