What do you mean by a datastore group? How would you define it?

While creating the ABR based Protection groups....one of type is based on datastore groups. This article provides this info how srm computes datastore groups Site Recovery Manager 5.5 Documentation Center. Just want to understand where we can see this.

A datastore group is all of the datastores where a VMs disks are stored (from documentation: A datastore group consists of the smallest set of datastores required to ensure that if any of a virtual machine's files is stored on a datastore in the group, all of the virtual machine's files are stored on datastores that are part of the same group. For example, if a virtual machine has disks on two different datastores, then Site Recovery Manager combines both datastores into a datastore group.)

There isn't a specific place in SRM to see this all together across SRM, however if you wanted to see it for all VMs you could run a PowerCLI script that looked at the datastores for all VMs protected by SRM. Keep in mind that for ABR you can look at this on a PG basis within SRM.

PG utilizes the datastore groups. I want to see what all those datastores groups are there in SRM. If possible, kindly share this power cli script

I would recommend searching on google for a powercli script to show you the datastores associated with a list of VMs

Hi,

Open Create Protection Group wizard and select the array pair for which you want to see the datastore groups. On the second page of the wizard all datastore groups will be displayed. All available replicated datastores that can be protected will be grouped by datastore groups and checkboxes. Please try it and let me know.

Regards,

Nik
