Install VCMAgent (DMZ)

Hi guys, I have to install a VCMAgent on DMZ machines, I did a manually VCMAgent installation and add the machine manually in VCM console, using HTTP port 26542. Even creating a bidirectional rule allowing communication between VCM server and DMZ machine, the VCM console still showing the status connection "No ping" like in the image attached. What is the port list that I have to allow to collect machine informations, update VCM agents, remote install applications etc? Does anyone knows?

Try the following:

Make sure your windows firewall is configured to allow that traffic.

Make sure you are configured to use HTTP and not DCOM.

Verify connectivity exists by using the httpping utility.

No ping means many different things, but all of the are related to the ability of vcm to reach the machine (even before trying to establish communication with the agent)

  • check that machine name as written in vcm ui is resolvable from the vcm collector
  • check that icmp ping is opened from the colelctor to the agent (by default, VCM use ICMP ping to check that machine is availible - you can either disable this globally on the Administration - Global Settings - Collector, or allow ICMP ping from VCM Collector the host in DMZ)
  • use dbe tool (ESMDebugEventViewer located in the VCM install folder /Tool) during the collection job to see enhansed output for your error - you might post saved dbe here for further analysis

good troubleshooting is to use telnet 'agent machine name' 26542 - it should provide blank responce.

if telnet fails - ensure that agent is configured as HTTP agent, that service is started and port 26542 is opened from the collector to the agent
