vSphere vCenter v6 > Multisite PSC and Enhanced Linked Mode

Hi guys,

I'm working on a lab deployment for testing vSphere 6 upgrades, currently I'm puzzled on why Enhanced Linked Mode is able to show both of my vCenters on only one side, here is my setup:

LAB 3

vCenter v6 connected to an External PSC (Site Name: EXT_LAB3)

LAB 4

vCenter v6 connected to an External PSC (Site Name: EXT_LAB4)

Both PSC are joint to the same vSphere.Local domain as a MultiSite deployment, each vCenter is linked to their own EXTernal site (pointed to its own external PSC).

I'm able to use ELM on LAB 3 (I can manage both LAB 3 and LAB 4 from the same dashboard with no issues), however when I connect directly to vCenter on LAB 4, I can only manage vCenter LAB 4 (LAB 3 is not even shown).

I've already verified next items:

Licensing (Trial mode includes Linked Mode)

PSC replication (showServers, showPartners, showPartnerStatus and both PSC are current on the change number).

Any help or hint is highly appreciated.

Hi folks,

For anyone interested on this issue and its solution, here we go:

I had to build up a new PSC and joint it to the vsphere.local domain, I opted to create a new site. I choose as replication partner the PSC from LAB3 since the vCenter on that site was actually able to show both vCenters (Enhanced Linked Mode).

Once finished standing up the new PSC, the vCenter on LAB4 was re-pointed and the services were moved. You can find more information on how to do those steps here:

https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&externalId=...

I'm glad to inform that both my vCenters are now using Enhanced Linked Mode and it is working like a charm!

Make sure you are using vSphere Web Client. The vSphere Client C# does not support Enhanced Linked Mode.

That should work. what account are logging in with, is it an AD account?  If so maybe you need to setup your lab4 PSC to also use ad authentication.

Thanks for your suggestion. I made the test, logged in on both ends using the administrator@vsphere.local account and the behavior remains. From vCenter LAB3 I can access to both (vCenter LAB3 & LAB4), but when connected directly to vCenter LAB4 it only shows itself (LAB3 is not listed).
