VMRC 8.1.0: Console crashes when removing and re-adding ISO image

Foreword: Haven't found a place that fits VMRC, so if it does not fit here then maybe you can guide me to the correct place to report that bug.

When removing and re-adding an ISO image then a runtime error occurs every second, and when you click "Ok" the console crashes. Fortunately the other consoles are not crashing.

Message windows title is "MS Visual C++ Runtime Library" with message "Runtime error! Program: C... R6025 - pure virtual function call"

Reported as bug #135

Finally reverted back to 8.0.1 and the error does not occur in that version.

Can you please send us the VMRC logs behind this issue?  We haven't yet been able to reproduce this in our tests.  Which versions of vCenter Server and ESXi did you encounter this on?  (looks like VMRC 8.1 on Windows client OS from the screenshot)

Please email the logs to me at yitingjin@vmware.com and to Chris at cquartetti@vmware.com and we'll pass them along to our team.

Thanks,

- Yiting

Where do I find the VMRC logs on Windows?

Are the logs still present after deinstallation and installation of 8.0.1?

Or do I have to reinstall 8.1.0 and reproduce the issue?

Where do I find the VMRC logs on Windows?

Windows logging

  • Installer:
    • %TEMP%\MSI*.log
    • %TEMP%\vminst.log
  • VMRC app and Remote MKS: %TEMP%\vmware-%USERNAME%\
    • Files are numbered with the format vmware-vmrc-nnnn.log where nnnn is the PID.

Uninstalling VMRC 8.0.1 should not remove any log files.
