SRM warning

I just upgraded our Vcenter servers to 5.5 and SRM servers to 5.81.

When I run a test it pauses at the Create Writable Storage Snapshot and the following warning appears on the step:

Warning - Unable to check for virtual machines that are not protected by this protection group but use datastores that are in this protection group. The connection to the remote server is down. Operation timed out: 300 seconds

The storage is NetApp and the latest available SRA is installed.

Has anyone seen this error and found a way to remedy it?

There's a standard check that SRM does to verify that there are no 'piggyback' VMs on a datastore. In this case it looks like the check is failing due to a network connectivity issue. For starters I would refer to this document and check that you have everything configured correctly:

I'm not sure exactly which components are communicating during this particular check. Maybe Web Client to remote Inv Service (port 10443?)
