I've been asked to set the MAC address on a guest server manually.
This server will be protected by SRM.
Will the manually configured MAC address be maintained when the machine is failed over?
SRM doesn't change a VM's MAC address as part of recovery. It is stored in the VMs VMX file so regardless of how the VM is replicated it will stay the same.
Are you using vSphere replication or array based replication (Such as RecoverPoint / MirrorView for the actual replication? Recall that SRM just automates the recovery but doesn't actually do any replication itself.
Either way, yes I believe the MAC address will remain in the replicated copy. I would do an isolated SRM test to verify
Replication is done with NetApp snapmirror.
IF only MAC changes, will not impact array based replication..
In that case, there will be no issues. The MAC will be available on the replicated VM.
I.

The release notes of SRM says the mac remains the same.
I have tested this with Machines configured with predefined static mac as well as the default.
The failover preserves the same mac addresses.
