Microsoft Storage Spaces for ESXi

Can someone advise the VMware support statement for Microsoft Storage Spaces storage? Does anyone tried storage spaces as Shared storage for ESXi and experience? Any reference documentation?

Thanks,

Jo

Unless I'm missing something, this is not supported since Storage Space uses SMB 3.0 and VMware does not support SMB as shared storage.

Thanks Richard.

Windows Server 2012 R2 can be configured as iSCSI Target and I believe we can configure iSCSI target for ESXi host.

Question: Is this configuration supported by VMware?

Some discussion around this topic here . https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/412532-esxi-5-5-and-iscsi-w2k12-r2

Is this following statement correct?

AFAIK, the Windows iSCSI target is NOT on the vSphere HCL, so it seems like a dead end to me:

I also having the same question,

Windows 2019 S2D to ESXi 6.7.0 servers.

Assume I have 4 servers with Windows clusters(s2d enabled).

Can we present the storage from Windows s2d through ISCSI to ESXi 6.7.0 servers?

Is this possible and recommended one ?

Thanks,

Manivel RR

In addition to the answer by IRIX201110141, which is correct, and I'll reiterate: NO, IT'S NOT SUPPORTED

Let me also add that no one should be using Windows Server provided iSCSI targets with ESXi. Not only is this also supported, but it is a horrible implementation of iSCSI and can and will cause problems. You need other and different storage if you're going to run ESXi.

I hope you understand my request correct.

I don't want to run the S2D Cluster on the ESXi Cluster.

I just wanted to use the iSCSI target from a S2D Cluster (which runs on other hardware/server) as stroage on my ESXi Cluster.

I believe the answers above were in-line with the meaning of your question.
