Increase virtualHW.version

Hi all,

I'm using a bare XP host to play an XP guest (a shared vm used in office for development) with wmware player 6.0.7.

I've noticed that it uses virtualHW.version = "7" when I can reach virtualHW.version = "10" with this vm player.

Do I will obtain some virtualization improvements increasing version from 7 to 10 (Eg: better speed, gfx, etc) ?

Thank you for info.

Regards,

Silverio Diquigiovanni

Not sure if you will really experience better performance, but if you upgrade the hardware you will get some additional features and better virtual machine scalability. The following KB article shows virtual hardware comparison for ESXi but may apply for VMware Player also: VMware KB: Hardware features available with virtual machine compatibility settings
