How would I go about deleting an App?

So we're still in the test phase of AppVolumes 3.0, and one of my co-workers deleted the .metadata files on two apps not knowing I was using the datastores in the trial run.  I have tried moving the apps off of my share, syncing, and then re-adding them to my share, but AppVolumes will not recreate the .metadata files.  How would I go about deleting those two apps from AppVolumes and starting over?

You can't delete Apps yet in 3.0.  To get an app deleted you need to engage VMWare support to do it.

Also if you still have the original metadata files from the capture machine you should be able to just copy those back.

as cbSean stated you cannot directly delete the applications or appstacks from the new horizonadmin interface in appvolumes 3.0.  You need to engage with VMware support to do it. They have a rough draft script available that can connect into the new appliance database and make the appropriate deletions.  It is a very rough draft state at the moment though and can lead to accidental deletion of actual good or live apps/appstacks.  I have been testing appvolumes 3.0 appliance over the past month or so as well and ran into the same issue of wanting to delete some old applications listed in the inventory that had been removed from the datastore and cifs share.

My recommendation for the time being would to be keep it testing only.  AppVolumes 3.0 is more of a beta stage product that being production ready.  It does not have feature parity with the older 2.10 version yet.  I have also experienced worse performance in Horizon View VDI environment that uses floating link clone Windows 10 VMs on AppVolumes 3.0 versus 2.10.  Logon times and VM responsiveness are longer and more sluggish so far in my experience.

Unfortunately I do not have those metadata files.

I'll get in touch with support to get the rough draft delete script.  Since I'm just testing, I don't mind blowing anything up right now.  Other than the whole debacle of SSL imports, I wholly wouldn't mind a fresh start.

Good luck man.  They at least have it listed in their release notes of AppVol 3.0 as a known issue so it has been documented.

as mentioned earlier, submit a SR with vmware to get the script.  Since it is fairly rough, i dont think they want it distributed freely.
