Filenames are case sensitive, please use exact case of filename when you write command.
As you see your filename is VMwareTools-10.0.5-3228253.tar.gz
but the command you typed has whole thing mentioned in small letters.
Please refer following KBs,
VMware KB: Installing VMware Tools in an Ubuntu virtual machine
VMware KB: Installing VMware Tools in a Linux virtual machine using Red Hat Package Manager (RPM)
Have a look on this : Automating VMware Tools install on Ubuntu 12.04
I believe VMware want to push open-vm-tools as the preferred method: Open-VM-Tools: VMware Tools Future for Linux - VMware Blogs
Find out more here: GitHub - vmware/open-vm-tools: Official repository of VMware open-vm-tools project

Hello Shankar,
the best way would be to use Open-VM-Tools. VMware recommends using OVT redistributed by operating system vendors
