Unable to uninstall VMware Bridge Protocol

I'm trying to remove VMware Bridge Protocol after an uninstall of VMware player 12.0.1-3160714 on Windows 10 Pro. Apparently the VMware uninstaller did not do a clean uninstall. Attempt to delete it causes this error as shown in screenshot.

I've also tried to remove the protocol via regedit at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Network, and upon reboot the protocol still remains.

This is a problem because it is preventing me from applying IPV4 settings, giving me the "An unexpected condition occured" when I try to apply DNS settings.

Can anyone tell me how to remove that damn protocol apart from reinstalling Windows 10?

I am having the same issue. All I can find is to re-install Windows 10 from scratch and then VMware products. Honestly this will be the 4th time I have had to rebuild my OS due to VMWare "issues". For the cost of the product I would assume that it would work but "working" must be a relative these days....

I have to add my own "me too" to this thread, considering it is still unanswered.

I have uninstalled vmware player 12 from Windows 10 pro, but the "VMware Bridge Protocol" was left behind.  I have removed all the references to VMware, VMnet, and VMplayer from the registry, and booted into safe mode with command line to remove VMware files and directories from the system32/drivers, Program Files, Program Files (x86), and their Common Files subdirectories.  I still can not untick or uninstall the Bridge Protocol from either the ethernet or wireless device properties.

It will take a lot of desparation to force me to install a fresh OS to get rid of this, but if I do end up going that far, you can bet that I will think more than twice about ever reinstalling player, server, workstation, etc.

Please post if anyone finds a resonable, less radical, solution than starting from scratch.  As a minimum there should have been big red warning signs of this "known" and unsolved issue.

If you have a little bit experience with Windows PE or ever booted Windows into the recovery mode I recommend to use that workaround.
Had to reinstall Windows once because of this too - so I needed an alternate way myself.
Boot into PE
find the driveletter for the affected Windows - lets assume E:
start regedit and hilight HKLM.
Cleck File > load hive and select E:\windows\system32\config\SYSTEM
Assign a name for the hive - lets assume X
Then go to HKLM\X\controlset001 and start a search for "vmnetbridge" and "vmware"
To uninstall vmnetbridge at least locate the servicename
HKLM\X\Controlset001\services\vmnetbridge
and the references to vmnetbridge in

HKLM\X\Controlset001\Control\Class

HKLM\X\Controlset001\Control\Network
and delete them.
That still may fail and in that case you may need to modify the permissions for those keys.
I dont recommend to try this at all unless you are used to editing the registry itself.
But unfortunately the current installers are not as good as we were used to in previous versions.
Windows 10 also adds to the problem.

I have a list for the registry keys that have to be removed but I made it using Win2012.

You have to delete this Registy entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{3d09c1ca-2bcc-40b7-b9bb-3f3ec143a87b}

Deleting the registry key allowed me to remove the bridge from the adapters after a reboot. This is the location where I found the key.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3d09c1ca-2bcc-40b7-b9bb-3f3ec143a87b}

Delete the key, reboot, uninstall the bridge from your adapters. As always make a backup of your registry before making any changes.

This key point to the vmnetbridge dll in the vmware install location.
