HP has ‘recipes’, which tell you the recommended firmware and driver combination. Cisco does something similar. Does Dell do anything to make it easy with an ISO? I've called Dell and they were no help. I'm sure there has to be someone here that has a good solution.
You can go to the VMware HCL, find your server, storage controllers, network cards, etc and when you click on the ESXi version it will show you the supported firmware versions. I am not intimately familiar with Dell's website so I can't give you any direction there but this should help you out.
Doug.
Thank you douglasarcidino. However, I am looking for the best way that will save me time. Take a look at HP's recipes. They did all of the leg work; tested drivers and firmware together and put it in an ISO for their customers. I'm looking for something similar from Dell.
I'm aware of those. I'm an HP VAR so I use those all of the time.
They use to have pre-configured images -
https://dell.com/support -> Browse for a Product -> Select Servers, Storage & Networking ->PowerEdge -> Select Support Platform (See Dell VMware ESXi 6.0 blog for supported platforms) ->Drivers & Downloads -> click Change OS & select VMware ESXi 6.0 -> Expand Enterprise Solutions
Yes, they had custom OEM ISO files like everyone else but that only includes drivers and not firmware updates. Maybe with the Dell acquisition they will finally start hosting them on my.vmware.com like everyone else does.
joshopper, The ISO I meant was for updating firmware on existing servers.
douglasarcidino, yeah I hope Dell gets better at this or maybe I'm missing something that I can currently use right now.
