Host OS not getting in touch on attaching USB external drive

There is highly interesting setting in virtual machine preferences: USB, When new USB device is plugged into your Mac while this v.m. is running

connect to this virtual machine.

The feature is interesting from amongst others following perspective. If the external drive is infected by some

bad stuff, it is good the host OS does not get in touch with it until the guest, because in our env. the av scanners

run on guest, not on host.

1. How much the host OS get's in touch with file system on USB external drive when this setting is ON?

2. Any chance to have similar setting on detaching usb device from guest, means do not allow the host to mount volumes

on the external but let it to do Eject.
