Workstation 12 USB Problems

Hi,

Could use some help with USB problems. Prior to upgrading to Workstation 12, I was able to connect devices to a guest machine using USB without an issue; this is using Workstation 11. Now, when I connect the same devices I get an error "Error connecting remote USB device: Cannot connect the device "BATRONIX BX40 BAGERO": a connection error occurred. This same error comes up with every USB device I tried thus far. I have the USB controller set for USB 2.0 which is the same as it was in the prior version. Host OS is Windows 10 Pro x64, Guest OS is Windows 7 x32. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Today I installed the latest update for Workstation 12 and now I get exactly the same error. It was working just fine before I installed the update.

Your issue appears very similar to my own.

In my case, it simply appears to be unable to grab the USB port/device when used for the first time.

In my case, it is a Netgear WiFi connector (WNDA3100v2).

The host is Win 10 Pro x64. The guest is Win 7 Ultimate x64.

Usually, after the 4th or 5th time (unplug/plug in cycle), it finally recognizes there to be a device. The host does not have any drivers/software for the device installed.

Once recognized, it may or may not retain connection to my router for the duration of the session.

I have used different WiFi USB connectors (WNA3100 and A6200) to determine if it is router or USB device tripping the error. Troubleshooting in conjunction with other devices using the USB WiFi connector, I find that it is entirely within the VM Guest. The devices work w/o issue, and they remain connected to the router for what ever duration I've tested.

If anyone has a clue as to why and how to correct, please let me know.

My VMWare Workstation Pro v12.1 build #3272444.

Thank you for your help and guidance.

Jim
