VMotion

1. Hi everyone,

I have created a vm kernel port for VMotion and i have given private ip address lets say 10.1.1.X (VLAN ID=100). This ip address should it be mentioned in the switch to communicate.

or this ip is just internal and will communicate with the management network as i have put the default gateway of the management network. I am confused here plz guide me.

2. I need to create a port group in distributed switch plz guide me.

In standard switch i need to create the port group for each individual host how about distributed switch, is this same way here also.

If all host will have the VMkernel for vMotion in the same subnet/VLAN, you don't need create IP address on your physical switch for this network and/or put default gateway for this VMkernel, but you will need add the VLAN ID in your physical switches.

In standard switch i need to create the port group for each individual host how about distributed switch, is this same way here also.

To create a distributed port group in distributed switch, just right click in your vDS and create the port group, you don't need create a port group in each host like you do when using standard switch.
