I have 10 servers in my vcenter right now. I have a 6 cpu vsan license. I'd like to purchase 3 servers for the purpose of a vsan. but it seems like I need licensing for the 10 servers I have already plus the 3 new storage servers? Does this seem to be correct?
Try to understand:
You have 10 host... how many socket?
Then 3 vsan host (6 socket?) must licensed VSAN... You should create a cluster ad-hoc for this, otherwise vmware ask for vsan licensing for all node in the cluster.
The rest of the node must be Std, Ent or Ent+...

Thats what I thought.
Each host has 2 sockets and my vsan hosts only have one socket, so I can rally put 6 vsan hosts to use.
So I have a Host Cluster and a Vsan cluster.
The part I haven't figured out yet is how to let the hosts in the host cluster use the vsan storage in the vsan cluster.
