I have vmware Player free version, win 7 pro but canNot upgrade to win 10 pro due vmware SVGA 3D not supported... soon plan to migrate it to Fusion Pro - Mac Book Pro.... what to do?
Hello,
The same issue has also been reported at the VMware Fusion forum and while the product is different, the problem is the same.
Will I be able to reserve a copy of Windows 10 using my Windows 8.1 VM?
It is however not a problem to install and run Windows 10 under VMware, it is the "get Windows 10" program that complains.
Some nice steps on how-to install/update to Windows 10 are available at:

I just had the exact problem trying to upgrade win 7 guest on Fusion Pro. I got around it using the media creation tool upgrade method, which worked perfectly.
Since win 10 it sees hardware to validate
if plan to migrate a VM[windows 7 Pro] from windows vmware free Player to Fusion Pro MacBook Pro
Please tell - when is best to UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10
Well, what is best????
Hi,
Basically it should not matter.
But as you have to take the right steps (select "move" instead of "copy" on starting up the VM) and make a backup (aka keep the VM on windows until you moved succesfully).. and that the CPU is likely to be different which perhaps triggers Windows 10 activation logic .. I'd say.. migrate when on Fusion.

OK, thanks
I will copy to my Mac and after upgrade.
Is any way [is possible] change key of Win 7 VM (Purchase and change the key) - in other words copy to Mac and key both Win VM and Mac VM - with guest in both Win 10....?
Sorry I don't know. That's a windows licensing specific question, my feeling says "yes" but I don't really know.
