Hello,
i assiged the VM action "Install Tools" to several users. My user (also fabric admin) can see this action, a normal user (only group manager) can not see the button.
Any ideas? Are there other rights to set which i missed?
Thank you,
Marcel Mertens
Actions are added via entitlements so if your normal user doesnt have the correct entitlements then it wont see the action of install tools
there is a defect in install tools even entitled it will be available only for business group manager and fabric admin's only.
thanks

Hey Kumaran,
that did the trick.
Thanks for that.
Marcel
Surprise surprise... another "feature" of this craplication...
I don't suppose anyone has yet another workaround for this as of yet?
There are several workflows available in vRO (mount tools installer, unmount, upgrade) that could be used to create a custom action to achieve this.
Yup, just like everything else...
Next question, as that was the same idea I came to, I'm currently doing this ASD workflow to snap the vm, then kick off a tools update.
How to I instruct vRO to update vRA that the VM in question now has a snapshot (instead of waiting for the data collection to happen)
Anyone know how/where I can accomplish this?
Is it the data collection running or just waiting for it to happen that is an issue? You could add the force data collection workflow to your existing one.
I could, but that seems nuts, also I worry about that happening frequently or on top of each other especially in a larger environment.
