Effects for Moving VM between vCenters & vRops historical stats

Hi there,

I have a question regarding the retention of vRops historical stats for a VM(s) being moved between vCenters.

We are planning an upgrade of our vCenter 5.5 Update 2 to vCenter 6.0 Update 1.

We would like to move to the VCSA (the fling is not applicable to our setup) rather than our current Windows install.

Internally I have been advised to start with a fresh install to keep it simple. I was listing out the risks of this approach.

One of the risks I have listed is that when migrating to a new VC we will lose the historical stats for the VM even if vRops is connected to both VCs.

Is this assumption true - when you move a vm from vcenter 1 to vcenter 2 how does vRops deal with monitoring a vm?

I imagine this is a problem that others have had to deal with when using SRM or the new inter vCenter vmotion feature.

Thanks,

Open a SR with GSS and they can help you through this process.  They have a script that will match up the resource ids from the old to the new vCenter instance.

Would be nice if they would publish that info.
