as far as Requirements listed on following url, it says in order to go for VCAP5-DCA exam, you must have VCP in version 5.

(VCAP5-DCA) VMware Certified Advanced Professional 5

but better to check with certification@vmware.com for more clarifications.

Not as far as I know - you'll need to wait for VCIX6-DCV to be released, or gain the VCP5-DCV in order to qualify for VCAP5-DCA.

As already said a pre-req for VCAP5-DCA is the VCP5 so you wont be able to.

Also I hear rumours VCIX6 is due out in the coming few months (supposedly beta is due to drop ASAP) so I'd wait for that unless you've spent a fair amount of time on DCA5 and want to get the VCP5 also.

Just got this back from customer support:

For a candidate to take and become a VCAP5-DCx exam, he DOES have to be a valid VCP5. We don’t allow candidates to go from Professional v6 to an Advanced v5.

No, you cannot use VCP6-DCV towards VCP5-DCV certification.

Hi Guys,

FYI

Hello Francis,

Regarding your Case 15802399011:

Thank you for reaching out to us for assistance. Due to Certification Operations Hierarchy VCAPs are only accessible to VCP5 certified candidates. I verified you have a VCP6-DCV but not version 5 therefore you cannot take the VCAP-DCA. You can become VCP5-DCV certified by taking the VCP550 exam (No Qualifying course as you already are VCP certified). Once you pass the exam we will grant the possibility to register for any f the VCAPs offered.

Should you have any further question do not hesitate to contact me. Have a great day.

Thank you
