Windows 2008R2 SP1 freezes when reconfiguring the vm with new disk size

Hello guys

I have a strange problem at my customer that happens like this.

When the customer goes into edit settings either on the web client or the thick client and extends a drive from 30 to 40gbs or any size that is the vm freezes and is unresponsive for up 2 15m on small extensions and up 2 an hour on larger ones.

This only happens to this os on 2012 or linux we have tested there is no problem.

The system has access to several differnt storage providers and its the same issue on all of them.

Server providers are also several different ones same issue.

They run the vsp6 with the latest updates.

On hardware version it can be differences but the issue is the same.

Have searched around the web on this issue but havent found any real similar case.

So i am reachin out to the community too see if any of you have experienced the same.

With regards B

Hi,

Are you hot extending the drives(extending whilst machine is powered on? Check and see that their VMTools are up to date.

Thx for your reply.

The issue has happened with the vmware tools not upgraded and upgraded has not mattered at all.
