Help with locked vmware esx3.5 -flat.vmdk file.

The file will not open, so cannot be started.

I presume this is due to a chroot environment lock file or some such. The file when attempted to be read give an Invalid argument error.

We are attempting to copythe files off of the ESX server to attempt recovery options. Support for this old device is not available through vmware, and they suggested this forum.

The files are mounted on an ISCSI volume and we moved the volume to another ESX box of same vintage and it gives the same issue there.

The filesystem is readable and writeable except for these files, which seems to be a protection mechanism that was able to be overcome by support when they were supported.

Please advise,

Thanks in advance,

Hello

please use skype if possible - emails will reach me much slower.
If the problem is still unsolved - let me know so that we can arrange a housecall
