VDCD55 exam nailed me

Today I sat for VCAP-DCD55 exam and it killed me. scored 200 and somethingSmiley Sad

I must say VMware advance exams are very tough compare to many other vendor exams out there.

One thing that make me sad is the recertification policy of VMware. 2 yrs is too short! and I think is not fair for VCAP certs to retire every 2/3yrs, I mean its really hard to get one.

If it was not for the love of VMware I was definitely not going to sit for VDCD55 exam again, but unfortunately I need it so bad.

Can anyone please help me with study material/exam tips/useful sources or any advice that can help me clear the DCD55 on my next attempt.

Regards,

Sorry to hear that you didn't pass. Yes, VMware Advanced Certification exams are very challenging, and require a lot of hard work. That's why it is rewarding.

Just to let you know, VCAP does not have expiry, only VCP expires. With current policy, once you pass VCAP, then no renewal is needed.

Good luck for your next try.

Hi Eric

I am also looking for study material for the design exam.

Don't think there is an official VMware book for this exam, as far as I know.

Let me know, if you find any good material.

Hey Eric,

I had some of the same issues you had when I first jumped into my DCD attempts.  So to prep for the exam I built a simulator to help others get a feel for what the exam will feel like.  Now the simulator was built around 5.1 and I'm working on a re-write, however the drag-n-drop and design questions are still the same in 5.5 as far as setup goes.

The 5.5 now only has drag-n-drop and design questions so focus on those.  The simulator can be found here:

www.virtualtiers.net

At the end of the simulator there is a study pack myself and the community has helped build, click on the "here" to download it.  This study pack will help give you sections where you should focus your studies.

Also the google+ DCD study group has a tremendous amount of information and a very active community to help you prep for this exam.  I highly suggest you jump into the community and ask lots of questions / read all the information there.

VCAP-DCD Study Group - Community - Google+

Hope this helps!

Cheers

Hi,

I listed all the resources I used for mine here: VCAP5-DCA & DCD | TheSaffaGeek

The material is also a bit older but 98% of it is still applicable as design is design.

The expiry periods are short maybe but having your VCP on vSphere 4 isn't going to help someone looking for someone who can help them administer or build a vSphere 6 environment.

As stated the the VCAP's dont't expire and neither does the VCDX although they are "versionised"

Don't feel bad abaout failign the DCD, take it as a learning experience. hopefully you wrote down where you felt you struggled and can strenghten there. I failed my DCD first time and I'm now a VCDX so dont lose heart and just go in next time even better.
