ESXi 5.5 update 3a and SLAT in nested environment

Hi,

This thread is more informative then a question or mayby someone had similar problem.

ESXi are used for VDI deployment. On Desktops there is installed a software for emulating windows phone 8. It uses hyper-v technology, so the template was prepared to use nested virtualization. Everything worked fine till esxi were updated from ESXi 5.5 Patch 5 re-release (2718055) to ESXi 5.5 Update 3a (3116895). After thet update SLAT stopped to work.

If anyone uses such a technology dont upgrade. I cannot upgrade esxi to ESXi6 becouse this blades are not supported with version 6. I dont know if this problem esxist on version6.

Regards,

Sebastian

Hello,

are you using Hyper-V on Windows Server 2012? .. nested visualization of  W2K12 causes some issues, try to use W2K8 if possible.

Hello MRoushdy,

Thx for responce.

I did not write it exactly, but there are desktops and they have installed Windows 8.1. So, it uses hyper-v 2012 technology and in fact I cannot use W2K8 Smiley Happy

Regards.

Would you mind posting a vmware.log file for one of the VMs?

This is probably the same issue as Issue with Hyper-V Integration Services on vSphere 6.0.  So, yes, vSphere 6.0 is probably affected as well.  I believe this will be fixed in ESXi 5.5p07.

It's VMware's policy not to comment on future products, features, or release dates.  I've probably said too much already.
