Win8.1 Guest-Minimize,Maximize,Close Window Icons Corrupted?

Hi,

I am running current VMWare Player for Linux version 7.1.2

with an Xubuntu 14.10 64Bit host and proprietary Intel display driver installed

with a Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro 64Bit guest with VMWare Tools for Windows installed.

Everything works great except that application windows have corrupted minimize, maximize, and close buttons?

The minimize, maximize, and close buttons still work, but it's hard to see them when they are corrupted.

jezxlee@ThinClient:~/Desktop$ lspci | grep VGA

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)

jezxlee@ThinClient:~/Desktop$ glxinfo | grep "OpenGL version"

OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 10.5.1

Any idea how to fix the above problem?

Hi,

Just for fun I searched Google for "Windows 8.1 close icons missing"

and found this hotfix:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2958267

I installed the hotfix and it seems to be working but I have not thoroughly tested it.

Just information to anyone else with above problem.

Hi,

Well, it's an improvement, but the minimize, maximize, and close icons still occasionally get corrupted.

Guess I will have to just live with it.

I also have installed this hotfix but it doesnt fix the problem at all..
