I was just looking for the same answer...

Sadly, it looks as though the only answer to any VUM problem is re-install... uninstall (erase), and start over.  I see nothing in the GUI to reverse an import, remove a patch from the database, or even get the stupid thing to download patches it's missed (something that happens every d*** time I go to install patches.)

The only other option is to mess with the database directly.  That's obviously the next to last resort -- backup the db, or be prepared to reinstall.

Hi,

Add and Remove Patches or Extensions from a Baseline

From the Patch Repository, you can include available as well as recently downloaded patches and extensions in a baseline of your choice.
Prerequisites

Connect the vSphere Client to a vCenter Server system with which Update Manager is registered, and on the Home page, click Update Manager under Solutions and Applications. If your vCenter Server system is part of a connected group in vCenter Linked Mode, you must specify the Update Manager instance to use, by selecting the name of the corresponding vCenter Server system in the navigation bar.

Procedure
1 Click the Patch Repository tab to view all the available patches and extensions.
2 Click the Add to baseline link in the Baselines column for a selected patch.
3 In the Edit containing baselines window, select the baselines in which you want to include this patch or extension and click OK.

If your vCenter Server system is part of a connected group in vCenter Linked Mode, and you have at least one Update Manager instance, you can add or exclude the patches from baselines specific to the selected Update Manager instance.

That is how to remove them from a Baseline. I want to completely delete the patch from my system.

Try to Putty onto the host the patch was installed on.

Then:

Determine which bulletins are installed on your ESX/ESXi host.

vihostupdate.pl --server <server> --query

Then:

Run the vihostupdate command.

vihostupdate --server <server> --remove --bulletin <bulletin ID>

vihostupdate can remove only one bulletin at a time.

The patch was not installed on a host. It is just in the inventory in update manager now, I want to remove it from Update Manager. It is saying all my servers need it, I do not want this patch.

It's a shame, but this is really not possible.

However, you can follow instructions here to re-initialize the VUM DB without re-installing VUM:
