esxi host not reachable

After the A/C went out, sometime during the night both of our only 2 hosts shutdown.

One came back up, all virtual machines moved to this host.

the other host will power on, but shows the 'management tools' IP address as 0.0.0.0

both hosts connect to a HP P2000 smart storage array.

On the storage array I can see warnings

Host SAS topology changed (host port 3, 0 out of 4 PHY's are up, link speed autonegotiated)

On the ESXi host the 'configure management network' is grayed out

Do I just re-create a vmkernel port if none are available

How to I make sure I use the correct MAC address for the uplink?

After that I just assign the IP adddress to the port through configure management?

Is this correct?

Still need help on how to obtain the correct MAC address

In fact, the more info/help the better as I'm kind of a noob

Are you using DVS ( distributed virtual switch ) and not standard switch . If yes, this is expected to be grayed out as the configurations need to be done from VC side.

If everything was working properly before power outage, then there is no reason to reconfigure again. Are you using DHCP? if yes, can your host contact DHCP server?

You should be able to configure/test the management network from the console via iLo, DRAC, UCS Manager, or whatever remote access product your hardware uses.  (I'm guessing you have HP servers, since you have HP storage, which would be iLo, but perhaps not).
