Any on premises assessment tool before plan VDI project?

Hi Xperts

Got a requirement to look for Virtual Desktop Infrastrucure[VDI] project in our organisation.

Found systrack assessment tool to help for my VDI assessment project. However, this is not on premise tool and they mentioned all collected data will be saved on their cloud.

Is it safe to use it? Also, can we get any other on premises free VDI assessment tool?. Please help

The VMware Lakeside Systrack tool has the ability to be deployed on premise I suggest getting in touch with your VMware representative and discussing this option.

Q. What if my organization prefers to use an on-premises tool for assessment and analysis?

A. Lakeside Software provides an on-premises solution that provides nearly identical functionality and is recommended for environments with heightened sensitivity to data privacy and security.

Have you taken a look at the View Planner tool? This is a free tool put out by VMware for pre-deployment assessment of the infrastructure.

Currently i am using View planner tool. It is Best. I will also suggest to give try on view planner . It is easy to install and easy to use. You can download from vmware site. it is just .ova file which you have to deploy on your esx server.

I am pretty sure the VMware tool has some data collected by Lakeside, who they procured for the tool, not sure all of it but when signing up there is a box you have to check that mentions it.  The only one I know of that is completely on premise is LiquidWare Labs FIT.  It is a Assessment tool pre-deployment and a troubleshooting tool post deployment.  I have used it multiple times now and am a big fan.  It is surely not the only one, but a well known one VMware used to lean on heavily for assessments.

One thing to keep in mind.  The VMWare assessment tool is not the full lakeside assessment toolset.  It does a high level, I would say pre-sales assessment.  The best bet is to use a full toolset.  I would suggest LiquidWare Labs FIT but even Lakeside is fine.  Some additional advise, getting a full assessment, defining use cases, and devising the best solution(s) from the EUC portfolio takes some considerable amount work outside of what software can perform.  Interviews with users, software licensing validation, and designing the solution based off the applications are going to be a large part of the process.  Good luck to you.

Thanks dwigz!Actually, i kept touch with Liquidware LABS support team. It is trail version. They said, only limited licenses for 5 users for 30 days. Smiley Happy

Sure, I will strongly consider your additional points... Thanks again..
