Hi,
I have come across this tool which calculates physical infra sizing based on virtual infra requirement. Just need to know your views on its authenticity? can we trust its calculations for lets say windows 7 based user vm requirements...thanks ...link below:
The calculator looks fine, but who is to say what the back-end looks like. If you want a recommendation, VMware offers a free, but cut-down version of the Lakeside Systrack capacity planner tool used by VMware PSO:
Horizon Virtualization Assessment | VMware
This would be a great place to start. Or, if you truly want a proven VDI calculator, Andre Leibovici from Nutanix has a published calulator on his page:
Horizon View VDI Calculator v3.1 Released » myvirtualcloud.net
Either of those links should help you get the info you need, from a trusted source.
I would look at that tool as a pre-sales tool to help you define a BOM. What you really want to do is a VDI assessment. The best tool out there is LiquidWare Labs Stratusphere FIT. As was mentioned VMware provides some tools for free but they are not comprehensive.
