1. Re: VMWare 7.1.1 & OS X 10.10.3 crashes when iMac goes to sleep overnight
dariusd Apr 23, 2015 9:10 PM (in response to Chapyaz)Hi Chapyaz, and welcome to the VMware Communities!
Could you please upload a zipfile of everything in your host's /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ ? I'd like to take a look.
Thanks,

2. Re: VMWare 7.1.1 & OS X 10.10.3 crashes when iMac goes to sleep overnight
Chapyaz Apr 24, 2015 9:16 AM (in response to dariusd)Attached is the Diagnostics in the Log file for a period of 4/23/15 to 4/24/15 in a Word file.
The crash occurred about 3:54:19am on 24 Apr 2015.
I had to do a reboot of the system at 8:16:27am on 24 Apr 2015.
The system hung at 3:54:19am.
I went to bed about 12:00pm on the 23rd and about 4 hours into the sleep mode, the system hung/crashes.
Any ideas would be sure help.
The system crashes overnight when VMWare is running.
If VMWare is not running, there are no crashes.

3. Re: VMWare 7.1.1 & OS X 10.10.3 crashes when iMac goes to sleep overnight
dariusd Apr 24, 2015 10:07 PM (in response to Chapyaz)Hi Chapyaz,
Unfortunately the diagnostic log you provided is of limited help.
There are a set of diagnostic logs created for most crashes and hangs, as well as other major system events, which could prove more useful. To collect them, go to Finder, then from the Go menu choose Go to Folder..., then enter /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports into the box. You should get a Finder window titled DiagnosticReports showing a collection of files with time-stamped file names. From the Edit menu, choose Select All to highlight them all, then from the File menu choose Compress <n> Items. That will create a file on your desktop named Archive.zip (or Archive 2.zip if you already had an Archive.zip, etc...). Find that Archive file on your Desktop, and attach it to a reply here.
Thanks in advance!

bennygsr May 22, 2015 4:10 PM (in response to Chapyaz)I have the same problem
Waking from sleep is an issue, but even last night - completely QUIT vmware, and same issue.
I have 7.1.1, 10.10.3
I run a Bootcamp partition on the primary hard drive and VM ware uses that to run the virtual machine.
I have only been having this problem since partitioning and running VM ware.

dariusd Jun 16, 2015 12:18 PM (in response to Chapyaz)Hi Chap, and sorry for the delay.
We've had a number of customers report similar problems (the dreaded "Sleep wake failure" issue). The log you provided was an interesting variation, though.
How often are you seeing these crashes? Do you have more crash logs that you can provide?
Thanks,

10. Re: VMWare 7.1.1 & OS X 10.10.3 crashes when iMac goes to sleep overnight
stephenju Jun 22, 2015 7:13 AM (in response to dariusd)I have a similar issue. My 5K iMac running OS X 10.10.1 is set to never sleep but with screen saver. I have a Fusion VM running Windows 8.1 which is also set to never sleep and no screen saver.
Once in a while (a couple of days?) the VM will stop responding and I need to force quit it. But when I launch Fusion again, it brings back the VM right away. Like it just wake up from a sleep.
I can provide logs but I can't send you the whole DiagnosticReports directory since there are many files from our own products and they are regarded as trade secrets. Please let me know what files you need to help diagnose this. Thanks.

Inevitably2484848 Jun 25, 2015 1:35 PM (in response to Chapyaz)I am having the same problem on my Retina MacBookPro. It only happens when VMWare is running when I put the MacBook to sleep.

sr105 Sep 25, 2015 5:09 AM (in response to Chapyaz)I have the same issue. This issue has existed since Fusion 5. I run a single VM of Ubuntu Server (currently using 14.04). Once the sleep timeout (forget Apple's name for this) occurs and the laptop goes to suspend, it crashes. Every time. Crashed last night, crashed the night before.

13. Re: VMWare 7.1.1 & OS X 10.10.3 crashes when iMac goes to sleep overnight
Bradall Sep 25, 2015 4:42 PM (in response to sr105)Happens on osx 10.10.5 and fusion 7.1.2 and also fusion 8. Its as regular as clock work if you forget to shut down the VM before closing the lid. Only happens with the VM running. Just need to remember to shut it down else risk everything that's open.
