Fusion 8 and Desktop Spaces on Multi-monitor

When running a VM in Fusion 8 Pro in full-screen on 2 displays I can switch the desktop space on the secondary monitor to a OSX desktop. So far so good.

But as soon as I click into the VMs window on the primary display -> the desktop space on the secondary monitor will immediately switch to the VMs desktop view.

Same as in Fusion 7. I was hoping this would get "fixed" for Fusion 8.

Is there a setting somewhere I did miss?

I'm not sure if this will help, but to go System Preferences, Mission Control and turn off "When switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows for the application".

Good luck!

This doesn't help. I too have the same issue. Parallels allowed you to run a multi-screen desktop and switch individual spaces without always having to be in Windows on both screens.

I have been using Fusion 8 and same thing occurs on my multi-monitor setup. It is pretty annoying since there are many instances where I am using my primary display for Windows and secondary for OS X while referencing things back and forth between them. It should most definitely not switch both monitors to the active VM. You should be able to select them independently. At least it should be an option to disable this behavior.

EDIT: I just started running this in Unity mode and my compile times are nearly identical. In Parallels they were almost double when I used coherence mode. This makes this somewhat of a non-issue for me at the moment since I would rather be running in Unity mode.  Not that it fixes the issue though...

Seems there is not a formal way on Fusion UI to disable this behavior.

If you won't have to keep the VM working on all displays, perhaps you can use the single display in Full Screen view.

Selecting View -> Use Single Display in Full Screen can let VM use only one Display to show guest UI. Then you can work with OS X on the other display.

I wouldn't consider disabling a feature a fix for the issue. Perhaps this is a feature that should be added? Workings with multiple monitors is a key aspect of being able to use a VM. I don't feel that you should have to decide between one or the other when Parallels behaves properly.
