Fusion 8 Win 8.1 to Win 10 upgrade issues

Ok so I was under the impression that Fusion 8 was going to solve my Win 10 upgrade issues but I'm still getting them all.

  • When i use the windows 10 upgrade icon in the task bar I still get the "VMware SVGA 3D: The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10. Check with the manufacturer for support."

  • When I try to do an Win 10 upgrade using an iso from within windows 8.1. During the install I get a What needs your attention window saying Continuing with the installation of Windows will change your display language and I click OK.

    • Then once I click Install, the install runs and gets to about half way thru and then I get a "Windows 10 installation has failed" w/o any type of error code.

  • When I try to upgrade on boot from a connected iso. I get a compatibility report saying:
    • The computer started using the Windows installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that Windows starts normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. (Do not select ICustom (advanced) to perform an upgrade. ICustom (advanced)I installs a new copy of Windows and deletes your programs and settings.)

Can anyone please help? I need to get this VM upgraded to Windows 10 asap!

Thank you,

Alex

Hi there,

The first issue we've talked about.  The second issue is weird... Are you going 64-bit to 64-bit?

Is the .iso could also be corrupted... Check the MD5 hash of your download:

(if you're not sure how to check the md5 sum see this: http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Check-MD5-Sum-on-Mac-OS-X-431080.shtml)

I'm going 64-bit to 64-bit. I checked the .iso with MD5 and it looks fine as well. Not sure what else is going on with it. I can install it fresh but I don't want rebuild my whole machine.
