Im having trouble when importing Windows XP Mode.

When I click "Import Windows XP Mode VM" then click Import, it says "Failed to import Windows XP Mode" with no following explanation.

My Windows XP Mode has been installed correctly and I've also tried to reinstall the vmware-player but nothing changes.

Im running on 64 bit Win7 Ultimate

I too have this.

Its frustrating because no error is given so I have nothing to act upon.

I'm running 7pro 64bit, and have tried to use vmware workstation 12  and the standalone converter 6 with client server option installed as it told me I needed to.

XPmode works fine in the virtual machine supplied by windows. I have tried to locate the virtual machine separately but the best i can do is navigate to to an empty window when i use 'supported files' and when i show 'all files' it tells me the .vmx file is corrupt, which is nonsense because it works fine in windows virtual machine. I kinda need 2 XPmode machines open because i need to talk to two different machines at the same time, and the two programs conflict in the same instance of XPmode, but work ok separately.

Any help  on what to do?

thanks in advance.

Screen shot attached.

I made an error there, I tried to open a vmc file, which is when it told me the file is corrupt, so that kinda makes sense!. But it still says 'unable to import xpmode' with no explanation as to why.

I cant figure out a way to get the converter to convert the vmc file to vmx file.

Any  ideas?

Neither converter nor a vmc-file is necessary.
In the Workstationforum I posted a short howto sometime ago - if you search for "XP mode" + "continuum" you may find it.

I still cant get it to work. When I search I see a lot of people uploading logs, please can someone tell me where this log is so I can try and use this. I see no menu entry for logs, so presume they are in a folder somewhere.....

It would really help if it told me why it failed to import xpmode rather just saying failed, and a close icon!

Fighting this battle myself.  I really don't want to have to go through a complete re-install of my Xp machine.

I found the post continuum mentions: How to create a VM from a XP-mode VHD

You must use vCenter Converter Standalone v5.5.3.  They removed the ability to import from a .vhd file in v6.0.0.
