Hi, I can't seem to get this to work and can't find any documentation.

When I boot the iso, it just takes me to a command prompt that says tc@box:~$

Any ideas?  I can't find anything to launch the user environment.

Thanks!

Can you boot it in a virtual machine?

I got it to work off of USB with the following settings

Screen Resolution 1200x768

Color Bit:s 32

Show WBAR? No

Auto-Shutdown Tinycore? YES

View.AutoConnectBroker: TRUE

View.AutoConnectDesktop:TRUE

View.DefaultBroker: DNS

View.DefaultDesktop: testing

View.DefaultDesktopSize: 2

View.DefaultDomain: mydomain

View.fullSCreen: YES

View.nonInteractive: YES

View.sslVerificationMode: No Certficate Checks

Hide Menubar: YES

THe issue I have is one I issue a shutdown or restart it doesnt shut or restart the computer.  It takes me back to the Desktop selection screen.  I thought the AUto-Shutdown would have prevented this from happening?

hi, there.

Couple of things.

Yes on some machines you will get command prompt when booting from CD, in my case i tried it on a laptop i got command prompt whilst on a desktop pc i tried it worked fine. It has something to do with not finding the CDE folder on the CD hence it does not load the extensions.

Yes it works as a virtual machine you can pretty much use any VM you have , set the CD/DVD to an local iso image file, use the one you get off the website and it will boot. It is a good way to test before deployment. But the only sure way is to test it on the acctual hardware that your gonna use. It will be released as vAppliance lets hope soon..

Auto shutdown option means when you close the vmware view client, the local machine will shut down. it has nothing to do with the VM machine that you are connecting to.

For my Question to you guys. has ANYONE got this to work with PXE. I cannot get it to launch the damn extensions, same problem as perhaps the above mentioned situation that you can get command prompt.

I tried it all, tftplist, pxelinux.0, grldr, making my own initrd containing the extensions, no go.  this : http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=9534.0

the trick to load extensions via initfr inside the /tmp/builtin/optional . Does load most of them, but still get prompt . because startx wont launch.

Basicaly what I and probably alot of people would want to know is how to make this boot via PXE. Somene give me a working way and i will write a guide to do it if need be! Ive been at this for 3 days now and cant get it to work . Maybe some help from the Developer of the auto builder would solve everything.

Or maybe a change so that extensions dont get loaded on boot thru CDE direcotry but some other way, perhaps they can be "baked" in core.gz? anything to NOT have to load them seperatly after or at boot. Smiley Happy

cheers

I'm not offering help, but have some questions Smiley Happy although my goal is also to make it pxe boot eventually.

Some issues I ran into:

- Cannot do a CTRL-ALT-DEL when in the VM itself.

- The time on the VM seems to change to UTC. Maybe I need to do this. http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100677...

- We have an Entrust SSL cert on our security server, but when tinycore, it says the certificate is invalid. No problems with any other connection methods.

Wish:

Wireless drivers

latest view client

Hi, this is an excellent project!

Only one thing would make it more complete for us, would you mind adding the view.KioskLogin parameter?

I built a working TinyCore PXE image, you can read details in the Tiny Core Forum:

http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,14974.30.html

Anyway, the "USB redirection" and "Audio redirection" features would be the killer addons to make TinyCore the best View client.

I love this tool.  It's a perfect solution for repurposed mobile workstations in our clinical envirornment.  The only problem is...I cannot get wicd or wpa_gui to work.  I can install the extensions, but they don't launch from the WBAR or RunProgram.  In Services, when I try to activate either extension, it goes green for a split second and then greys out again.  Also, any changes I make to /proc/cmdline are not restored after restart.  Is there something inherent in this image that blocks applications?

Does anyone know why there seem to be a limit to the screen resolution supported?  I am trying to set the resolution in the builder tool to 1920x1080, but it does not seem to work.  Is it a tiny linux driver issue, or some other area that I have overlooked?  What I am trying to achieve is to use this tiny linux based VMware View Player on conference room computer where the monitor is these 50" TV/Monitor.

what is the new url (if there is one?) for the builder because repurpose.vmwarecloud.at seems to be permanently down.

Thank you in advance
