unable to install Dump collector using VC integration option ---- username / password error

Hi All,

I am trying to install Dump Collector on VC Server or if I try installing it on another server, when I choose the option for VC integrated it returns an error """"""""" login failed due to bad username and password"""""""

snapshot attached

I have tried changing my password to less complex with special characters but no go. I know the networking is fine because I am able to connect to my virtual center server using Windows UNC path i.e. \\virtualcenterserver\c$

This will come up fine. Any Suggestions on why it is returning this error. I am using 5.5

Thanks

Hi,

When I have installed this in the past, I have used the:

administrator@vsphere.local

SSO master account for this installation (because I knew it had highest privilege and I was in a lab).

Perhaps give that user account a try? (admin@system-domain - if you are on 5.1).

Ryan, I have configured the dump collector setting on the ESXi Host.

esxcli system coredump network get

esxcli system coredump network set --interface-name vmk0 --server-ipv4 10.1.1.5 --server-port 6500

esxcli system coredump network set --enable true

esxcli system coredump network get

I can see all the details however when I intentionally generate a PSOD on the server dump file gets created but when I rebooted the esxi host the dump  collector settings are gone.

I have to re-enable the settings.

Any suggestions on why the esxi host is loosing the dump collector settings after it crashes.

Thanks

Hi,

If you check the configuration and make sure it is all there after configuring and then do a:

services.sh restart

See if the configuration persists through that. Then perhaps, check that after a reboot, the configuration persists before testing the actual PSOD failure.

I don't remember having this problem before, so it will be good to test at which point the configuration disappears.

Ryan I guess restarting services.sh did the trick

Now when I PSOD my ESXi Host and reboot the settings still remain.

Many thanks for your help. I do not have an option to mark your suggestion as correct answer or helpful else I would done it.

thanks again
