Hello Truton,
From the links below, I see still VMware is working on the issue and its not yet fixed.
help --- Fusion 7.1.2 causes BSODs
VMware Tools regression in Workstation 11.1.2
Also as a workaround, you can follow the steps provided by "BTashchuk" to run the VM with Fusion 7.1.2 :
1) go to
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/921337
2) put in your email, Microsoft will send you a link to the hotfix
3) apply hotfix to XP SP2 VM
4) shut down VM
5) Update Fusion to 7.1.2
6) start XP2 VM and allow VMware tools to be installed
7) everything appears to work, no immediate BSODs

Hello Tony,
Welcome at the VMware Communities forum.
As that was your first post and as you are not mentioning you had this problem yourself, please note that the issue only occurs with Windows Service Pack 2 (SP2) and earlier. If your Windows XP is running Service Pack 3 - the latest SP - then you should be fine.

Hi,
As you can read here: VMware Tools regression in Workstation 11.1.2 a fix for the issue is currently being tested.
However I would not expect that fix for Fusion 7.1.2 as VMware Tools comes bundled with a VMware Fusion version, so it wouldn't be released until Fusion 7.1.3.
Please note that I am not saying it will be in Fusion 7.1.3 as I do not work for VMware (and neither does any of the others who have replied to your topic so far, VMware employees have a little "vm" logo next to their profile).
Also note that it is VMware policy not to make any public statements about that sort of thing as fixes might not pass the testing phase immediately.
