What is the secret to get Hyperic Collected Metric Data into vRealize Operations v6.0

G'day All,

I am experiencing issues trying to get the collected metric data from Hyperic into vRops.  I have successfully added the Hyperic Adapter and can see monitored resources in vRops but none of the data of the collected metrics which are present within Hyperic will show up in vRops and therefore cannot be applied against the dynamic threshold engine to create baselines from which health can be determined.

Does anyone have a step by step How-To document that describes this concept and the Best Practices associated with its deployment?  I have not gotten any real feedback on the specifics regarding this approach and whether or not it should even be implemented.

Would this be beneficial and considered a "Best Practice"?

Are others doing the same?

Any help and feedback would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance,

Danny

I would guess that there is a firewall between the Hyperic server and vROps that prevents Hyperic from sending the metrics to vROps.

Hi Eran,

I can see the Resource Objects in vRops just none of the collected data...its like I am missing some specific configuration that allows the data from Hyperic to populate into vRops.

Thanks,
Danny

The adapter is a two adapter:

1. vROps pulls the config and object information

2. Hyperic pushes the metrics

If you see #1 and not #2 then chances are that something is blocking access to your vROps server from Hyperic. It may be a firewall/network issue or the servlet that handles these requests is not working. Probably the firewall.
