If there were one industry certification that most closely maps to the knowledge you need as a VMware administrator / designer to get a good framework of reference in how to design for compliance, what would it be?
PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA)?
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)?
CRISC Certification?
Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP)?
Something Else?
Where is the most concise, most bang for the buck entry level certification that you could both get something valuable from the learning process, achieve a certification which shows you have some entry level knowledge, and be easy enough not spend 5 years and $5000 getting it?
The idea is that the certification study would take you though a general path of understanding compliance that you could use as an approach to any compliance standard your environment might need to come under - be it PCI,HIPAA, or anything else, and help you think like an auditor and not just an admin.
