VMWare Vsphere Client V6.0.0 Build 2502222 Cursor Disappears

     Hardware

Vmware server is HP Proliant DL380p Gen 8.

VMWare Client is Windows 8.1 using Power Shell (to augment the Tile User Interface)

I installed this version of VMWare ESXI using an HP prepared VMWare ISO for Proliant on HP support site.  I have installed the latest VMWare tools (dated April 23?, 2015).  My Vsphere Client is V 6.0.0 Build 2502222.

After mouse disappears, I can get it back by typing Control-Alt-Delete and then selecting Windows Task Manager.  My virtual machine is useless in this state.  I consider this a product defect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

David

Please manually reinstall the VMware tools. Uninstall them first and then mount the iso and run the setup. Please choose Complete pack instead of Typical.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for replying.  I can't, for practical senses, operate the Guest Windows 2012 R2 Server without a mouse; therefore, I can't remove the tools and reinstall them.  I was barely able to install them in the first place.  I just don't know enough Windows keyboard short-cuts (or even know if it is possible) on Windows 2012 to do what you say without the use of a mouse.  I am pretty upset about this situation, and time is a wasting, and VMWare says since I don't have support they won't help.  Well, I think this is a defect.  V6 is still new, and there are probably some nagging bugs that need to be fixed.  Not a lot of people are using this version yet, so I think it would be in their interest to help me get this fixed (and possibly HP's interest too).

Thanks again.

David

Hi David, I can't say it is bug or not, because I don't experience this issue. At the moment I'm trying to help you to resolve the issue. I've checked the best path how to uninstall VMware Tools specially for you in Win2012R2.So:

1. Open the VM console

2. Press Win button on your keyboard (usually between Ctrl and Alt)

3. Navigate with arrow button and select Control Panel and press enter on it

4. Now navigate with Tab button to go to the main area of the Control Panel and again use arrow keys and locate Uninstall and press Enter

5. Again use Tab and arrow keys to locate VMware Tools and use Tab key to switch to the Uninstall menu and Uninstall Tools

6. Use similar navigation to manually install VMware tools with complete setup.

i Uninstalled the VMware tools on the guest OS (Winows 2012 R2), and reinstalled them.  This did not fix the problem.

In other news,  I have now installed a VM as a Virtual Center Server Appliance and can successfully use the Vsphere Web Client. In addition to the Mouse Pointer problem, I now have to figure out how to see and manage my existing Virtual Server using the Web Client.  Right now, I can only see it when I run the Windows Client.

Thanks

David
