Actually VMware vSphere Replication is used to replicate virtual machines within your vSphere environment or to the cloud.

yeah . you can say its for the DR best practice and solution. For more and detailed info you can explore it from self. :

A basic installation and configuration can be found on yellow pages for 5.0 version. its quite similar to 6.0 except some options.
