Hi,
I have created a debian virtual machine in vmware workstation or vmware player. This machine starts correctly.
So i want to import this machine in vmware esxi.
So i have imported all files (all directory in fact) in datastore, this is ok for this operation.
After, i have added .vmx in inventory (with right click) ; after i want to start this machine and after a few seconds there is an error message "bootstrap is not available"
Thank you for your help.
Thierry
What versions of workstation/esx are you using and what compability-level does the vm have?
// Linjo
You can check the hard disk location of the VM and you can remove the disk and add again by selecting the existing disk and then power on the VM.
Hello !
workstation 11 and esx6.

hi and thank you for your response but how can i do that because i'm not an expert 😉
Regards,
Thierry
From workstation you can export the VM as ovf template and import to ESXi. Or As I said earlier you can right click the VM and go to edit settings and check the Hard disk location.
ok thank you for your responses, soory for delays (but i was workinf on another subjects..)
from vmware workstation 11, i have created an .ovf but in esx 5.5 , when deploying ovf model i have this message :
"line 25 : unsupported hardware family 'vmx11' '
i don't understand why because this operation is ok in esx 6 (in my test platform) !
thanks for your helps !
Thierry
vmx-11 is quite new and is not supported by vSphere 5.5.
Use 9 or 10 instead.
